Established in 2025 as Sri Lanka's first institution dedicated exclusively to preventive research and lifestyle medicine, the Preventive Research Center (PRC) at Sabaragamuwa University represents a landmark in evidence-based public health infrastructure for the country.

The Centre was built with a foundation of multi-stakeholder partnerships and three successful early-career research grants, and operates as the hub of a five-country international research collaboration focused on NCD prevention across the Asia-Pacific region.
